What We're Doing

We are thrilled to be re-opening. Your health and wellness is very important to us and we know that many of you can’t wait to get back to their old routines in our “new normal”. We have new safety measures in place. As we learn more, we’ll be updating this page with the latest—so you can always check back here.

An inherent risk of COVID-19 exposure exists in any public place where people are present. While we have taken enhanced health and safety measures for our members, COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting The Aviary, you will be required to sign a waiver and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Let's help keep each other healthy! Please do not come to class if you are feeling unwell, avoid touching your face and keep your mask on.

Studio Changes

  • Coming & Going. We will use separate doors for entry and exit to reduce overlap of clients coming and going. In our studio, you will enter through the door on the left with our logo on it and exit through in the main studio. When you are exiting, please carry your shoes to the door and put them on right before you walk out.

  • Equipment Spacing. We have increased spacing between aerial equipment to 9ft distancing. We have reduced the number of hammocks to 7 in the Main Studio and 4 in the Mini Studio. Choose a hammock as far from others as the class size will allow.

  • Class Sizes. Class sizes will be limited to 6 in the Mini Studio and 10 floor students or 7 aerial students in the Main Studio.

  • Intensity. Take it easy as we start back. Keep spinning to a minimum, take breaks often and listen to your body.

  • Equipment. Hammocks and silks have been treated with an EPA approved, non-chemical antimicrobial spray that kills bacteria and viruses on contact. Lyras will be disinfected between each use. Weights, bands, foam rollers and blocks will be disinfected by students after each use. If you want to learn more about the products we use, email us at

  • Mats. Ours will be disinfected between each use and deep cleaned each week so if you do not have a mat, you are welcome to use ours. You are welcome to bring your own mat and place it over the top of one of ours so you still have the padding underneath you.

  • Reduce Overlap. While we love our community and would love to socialize with you, we need you to arrive no more than 5 minutes early to class. Please plan on leaving as soon as possible after class ends.

New Studio Protocols

  • Masks. We require masks at all times inside the studio. If you are able to tolerate it, please do not remove it until you have stepped outside or into our lounge area to keep our community safe. Reduce the intensity of your movements until you become more comfortable wearing it. We recognize there are medical conditions that preclude wearing a mask, if that is you we are unfortunately unable to accommodate you in our classes at this time. Please consider our virtual class offerings instead.

  • Wellness Check. Check your temperature at home before coming to class. If you have a temperature over of 100 or more, please stay home!

  • Clean Everything. A sanitizer station is set up for you. Please wait to use it until immediately before you enter the workout area and touch our equipment or mats (after using the restroom, taking off your shoes, signing the forms etc.). If you are bringing a water bottle and phone into the space please wipe them first and then sanitize your hands last. We will give you extra wipes after class to wipe our mats and equipment. We recommend you sanitize or wash your hands again before you leave the studio.

  • Cancellation Policy. We will be transitioning to a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel late or no show our standard penalty applied unless you are able to provide medical documentation or a COVID diagnosis showing you were unable to attend class.

New Cleaning Protocols

  • Preparing for Your Return. In accordance with governmental orders and guidelines, The Aviary has implemented extensive cleaning protocols and social distancing practices. Hammocks and silks were been treated with an EPA approved, non-chemical antimicrobial spray that kills bacteria and viruses on contact. We have disinfected all equipment (weights, bands and aerial). If you want to learn more about the products we use, email us at

  • Going Forward.

    • We have new protocols for proper disinfection, operation and maintenance and added additional products and procedures to achieve a new level of cleanliness.

    • Staff will be disinfecting high-touch surfaces through the studio and spraying our hammocks with a fabric disinfectant spray after each class.

    • Disinfectant wipes will be available for you to use on water bottles and phones.

In the Event of a COVID19 Case

If we are notified of a presumptive or confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 involving a member, visitor or staff, we have a defined protocol for taking swift action.

  • If they visited one of our studios within 14-days prior to notifying us (per CDC guidance), we will notify all members and staff that visited that location during that period.

  • Any staff that was in close proximity with the affected individual during the 14-day period will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days following the affected individual’s last visit.

  • We will immediately cancel classes and close the studio until we can conduct a deep cleaning of the space and all equipment with disinfecting products known to kill the virus.

  • If there is a confirmed diagnosis, tracers working for the Minnesota Dept of Health will directly contact individuals deemed to be at risk of exposure.

  • In the event of a studio closure, members will be notified by email. If the studio that is closed is the only location you go to, email us and we will suspend your membership while we are closed.

What You Can Do

Nothing is more important than help to keep ourselves, our friends, families and communities healthy. By following the advice on this page you can help support a safe, phased reopening of our studios. Together we can do our part to help limit the spread of COVID-19, especially to those who are more vulnerable due to age, compromised immunity or pre-existing conditions. Thank you for your cooperation.

  1. Protect Yourself and Others. While enjoying our studios, please help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus:

    • Assume everyone is asymptomatic including yourself.

      • Stay 6 feet apart from other people.

      • Wear a mask.

      • Workout as far away from others as possible.

    • If you cough or sneeze, wash or sanitize your hands immediately after.

    • Sanitize your hands, phone and water bottle before entering the workout area.

    • DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE! You can't get infected by touching dirty surfaces. You get infected by touching your face after touching an infected surface. If you sanitize your hands immediately before and after class and you do not touch your face, germs that get on your hands from surfaces cannot infect you.

    • Notify us immediately if you are diagnosed with COVID19.

  2. Stay Home if You or Anyone in Your Home is Sick. Remember that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are asymptomatic. But if you have a fever, a cough, shortness of breath or even just feel a little run down, don’t take a chance—stay home. We recommend that persons more vulnerable or at-risk for COVID-19 as identified by the CDC, or who have chronic medical conditions, or who live with someone at high risk, take extra precautions or refrain from taking classes with us during the soft opening.

  3. Be Respectful. Others may make different choices than you for health reasons or otherwise. If someone is not wearing a mask, assume it is because they are unable to. Our staff will do their best to learn to teach aerial classes safely from a distance, but please be patient. If an instructor or another student asks you to mind your distance, please do so politely so that you can expect the same in return. If an instructor asks you to stop or come down while doing a move, please do so immediately. They only have your safety in mind.

  4. Sources of Information

Please Note

Though businesses are allowed to begin a reopening process, this does not indicate that you are any less prone to contracting Covid-19 or any other contagious infection. It simply means hospitals and health workers are expected to have the capacity to treat the public without becoming overwhelmed. Please continue to practice safe distancing habits, wash hands often, and wear face covering whenever you are in a space with others.

Students with pre-existing health conditions at high risk of serious complications if they contract Covid-19 are strongly discouraged from attending group classes.
